So – There’s This Guy I Know.

We were talking last night and he mentioned that he’d either heard or read that all humans alive today are here by incredible odds. The odds of any of us waking up – again – this morning are about the same as the odds of TWO MILLION people throwing a ONE TRILLION sided dice –Continue reading “So – There’s This Guy I Know.”

Prayer IS An Action. But – – – Wait A Minute!

I see a lot of folks offering things like: “Pray about it.” Or “Connect with your higher power.” Or “Have you asked God for help?” What I don’t see a lot of – and I’m talking about activity in rooms for addiction and/or recovery – is, “What have you done to try to fix this?” Or “WhatContinue reading “Prayer IS An Action. But – – – Wait A Minute!”

What EXACTLY Is The Function Of A Guardian Angel?

Especially in light of the duties of our spirit guides? I’ll try to keep this short. It’s Saturday and everyone’s got stuff to do. Okay, first who coined this term Guardian Angel? The name itself implies there’s some guarding going on. But guarding from whom? From what? How does our Angel do this? Especially whenContinue reading “What EXACTLY Is The Function Of A Guardian Angel?”

A Funny Thing Happened In Bed…

I was moved to watch a podcast. I’ve never watched one before. Is this weird? I watched Dr. Eben Alexander describe his NDE, near death experience, what caused it, and how the coma that ensued had exposed him to the truth of the Universe, God, and Angles. Interesting stuff. I could relate to a lotContinue reading “A Funny Thing Happened In Bed…”

The 11th Step (Not To Be Confused With The 11th Hour.)

“Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.” Alcoholic’s Anonymous Doesn’t this beg the question – if we were all able to know God’s will for us and to have theContinue reading “The 11th Step (Not To Be Confused With The 11th Hour.)”

AA Step 3 ~Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.

Wait. Doesn’t AA suggest that the willpower we do have is insufficient to get sober alone? And if that is truly the case – what difference should it make if we give the insignificant amount of power we do have over to God? That would leave us without any whatsoever. Why should God get allContinue reading “AA Step 3 ~Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.”

Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. (AA Step 2.)

I never did. I got sane once I got sober, and I got sober on my own. Granted, I had plenty of verbal and emotional support, but no one got sober for me. Everything I relied on to get sober was already within me. And I believe that whatever that is – resides within everybody.Continue reading “Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. (AA Step 2.)”

Saturation: A Memoir, Will Be Republished.

For those of you who have read my first book, Saturation, it is going to be rereleased this March. For those of you that haven’t read it – it’ll be out this March. My story cornicles the decades I spent trying to get sober. I spent nearly 12 months in nine residential treatment centers overContinue reading “Saturation: A Memoir, Will Be Republished.”

Toss It In The Dumpster.

As long as folks who are struggling to get or stay sober keep that drink on the top shelf of their mind – rather than tossing it in the dumpster where it belongs – it’s going to stare them right back in the face. Getting and staying sober doesn’t have to be such a struggle.Continue reading “Toss It In The Dumpster.”

Time Spent with the BMOC

Yes, I’m talking about God. For whatever reason, the idea to resume my meditation practice has been noticeably present in my brain since yesterday. This idea to meditate popped up in there again this morning, so I’ve decided I better act on it. I think this might be considered Jennifer is listening to her intuitionContinue reading “Time Spent with the BMOC”
