“We admitted we were powerless over alcohol—that our lives had become unmanageable.” Step 1.

No, I am not powerless over alcohol. Alcohol is a liquid and so long as I don’t put it in my body, which is a choice, I have all the power over it I need. I got sober, on my own, and am staying sober. This is power. Saying No to a drink is power. Just because some people need others to get or to stay sober doesn’t mean everyone does to be successful.

If my life had been unmanageable, I couldn’t have ever gotten sober. Getting sober requires some manageability. It takes effort and persistence and patience and faith and courage and diligence. 🤨
