I must say, rereading my memoir is taking me on a long trip down memory lane. I’d forgotten some of these details! It sure is a good thing I wrote everything down when I did!
I just decided today that once I’m ready to republish my book, I’m going to remove the first edition. I understand that some folks will keep both versions of their work available to the public, but I think in my case – two versions are unnecessary and might be confusing. I’m condensing the first edition quite a bit after taking to heart some advice from loved ones. I wrote too much the first time. It doesn’t all need to be in there for folks to get the gist of the story.
Why did I write it? There’s a ton of personal stuff in there. I wrote it because it is my hope that it’ll reach at least one person who is struggling to get and stay sober. Overcoming the beast of addiction is no easy task, but it can be done. If I can reach one person, then the time it’s taken/taking to write both editions is worth it.
So far, my republishing goal of sometime this March is still in sight. And I’m excited about it!
