Who’s Having Fun?!

Where to start with new and fun Sober Activity ideas?

I think a good place to start is with a few questions. What ideas stimulate you? Which ideas arouse excitement and your sense of adventure? What might you enjoy doing that you haven’t done before? What might be a good replacement for the hours you used to spend drinking? What sounds fun to you?

Participating in the process of creating one’s new sober life is important. Don’t just put the question out there and let others get creative for you. If a new idea comes to mind – try it. If a new idea doesn’t come to mind – create a list of things you have done that you don’t want to do anymore. When you finally write down something new, which is inevitable, go do it. If you have fun and enjoy yourself – do it again. If you don’t – try something else.

I could sit here and prattle off a list of 100 things to do in new sobriety. But those are my ideas and those are probably things I should try. You’re not me. I think that people who come up with their own ideas for new sober activities are much more inclined to enjoy them because the idea to do it originated with that individual in the first place.

I think half the fun in this process is the discovery aspect. Oh shit, I’m sober now. I’m not sitting around drinking all day and night. So – how the hell am I supposed to spend my time? By getting creative. By taking out a pen and paper and writing some shit down – and then walking out the front door to go try some of it. That’s the first half of the fun part. The second half of the fun part is the actual doing of – whatever it is. 🧗‍♂️🏇🏂🏄‍♀️🚣‍♀️🏊‍♂️🤽‍♀️🏋️‍♀️🚴‍♀️🤸‍♀️💪 I think another term for this is self-discovery.

We learn all sorts of groovy things about ourselves once we get sober.

Take a little initiative. Something good might just happen!
