On the same day.
Yes. I’d been drinking. No, I’m not a big believer in miracles. But, it may be a miracle, in this case, that I didn’t hurt anyone that day.
Everyone was fine and there was no damage to either car – both times. The first driver couldn’t have been less interested once he decided that his car was okay. He left in a hurry. The second driver, on the other hand, flipped out a little bit. He yelled, and I found it a struggle to hide my amusement at his overreaction. He and his car were both unscathed, but he still introduced quite a bit of drama. I suppose at the very least I might have startled him. Eventually, we parted ways and that was the end of it. I finally acknowledged to myself that I needed to go home and stay there – so I did.
This happened – maybe ten years ago and I have no idea why this memory just popped into my head. I think both times I’d been looking down to use my phone. For the record, there is no time of day or night that it is safe to assume all intoxicated folks are still at home or in the bar. On this particular day that I hit those cars – it was the middle of the afternoon.
Anticipate the unexpected.
