The Windshield is Bigger Than the Rear View Mirror For a Reason

Can’t go forward if we’re always focused on what’s behind us.

Ever think about that? How often do we drive backward? Right?! This is an exceptional analogy in relation to the directions we follow in our own lives. How can we move forward if we’re always focused on stuff that happened yesterday or last month or last year? The rear view mirror certainly has it’s purposes and advantages, but it’s not meant to be the window through which we navigate life. And it’s impossible to reach any destination if we’re always looking in our rear view mirror at what’s behind us.

Where’s your focus … your attention?

Instead, if we’ll change our focus to our futures – to our hopes – to our ambitions – toward our goals and plans, life – overall – might start to look a little more exciting and worthy of exploring. How many of us have been successful at changing anything we did in the past? I have never met one person who can do that and I’ll be 51 this Tuesday.

I think this is just a memorable, easy to remember, analogy about remembering to stay focused on what’s in front of us. 🙂 It can bring us hope and that always feels good!
