Rhonda Lee has been sober, for the 13th time, for two weeks and she wants to meet her girlfriend’s at the neighborhood pub. She’s not worried about putting herself at risk to relapse because she hasn’t had any alcohol for 14 days and she feels strong.
Is this risky or is this just evidence of someone who doesn’t take her sobriety seriously? With more history of relapse than she has of maintaining her sobriety, one has to question why she bothers in the first place. What a colossal waste of time and energy only to start all over again the next time the idea to get sober burns a hole in her imagination.
The analogy that comes to mind is – “I can’t swim, but I’m going to try to make it to that island way over there. See it? No? Here, use my binoculars.”
Bless. Hey, can’t knock the effort – right?
